The GAME4CHANGE consortium gathered in Leiria, Portugal, on 15-16 October 2026 for the GAME4CHANGE International Conference and the 3rd Face-to-Face Transnational Project Meeting (TPM), hosted by the University of Leiria and Oeste (ULO).
The two-day gathering brought together project partners, researchers and education professionals to present the project’s achievements, exchange knowledge and explore future opportunities for integrating digital serious games and innovative technologies into climate change education.
The International Conference took place on 15 October at the School of Technology and Management (ESTG) in Leiria, focusing on the role of digital serious games, gamification and emerging technologies in higher education.
The conference provided an opportunity to share the research findings, educational methodologies and digital learning tools developed throughout GAME4CHANGE.
Nuno Rodrigues opened the scientific discussion with his presentation, “Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education – Setting a First Scene in Higher Education” introducing a framework for innovative approaches to environmental education.
Vassilis Bokola presented “Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education: Results of a Mixed Research Approach” sharing findings from transnational research conducted across six countries.
The technological dimension of the project was highlighted by XENIOS POLIS, who delivered the presentation “Designing an AI-Supported Digital Learning Environment: The GAME4CHANGE Case.” Their presentation introduced the GAME4CHANGE online learning environment, its interactive educational modules and the GAME4CHANGE AI+ assistant, demonstrating how digital technologies can support a more engaging and accessible learning experience. The conference also featured a round-table discussion on “Potential Partnerships and Future Developments” moderated by Vassilis Bokolas and Fernando Silva. Participants exchanged ideas on strengthening European collaboration and supporting the continued use of the project’s results.
The meeting focused on reviewing progress across the project’s Work Packages, discussing completed and ongoing activities, and coordinating the remaining steps towards project completion.
The GAME4CHANGE consortium extends its thanks to Nuno Rodrigues, Fernando Silva and the hosting team at the University of Leiria and Oeste for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation of both events.
The partnership continues working towards making its educational resources and digital tools accessible to learners, educators and institutions across Europe.
