WAKE UP: Raising Youth Awareness on the Metaverse, is an Erasmus+ KA2 project that started in December 2022 and has a duration of 24 months.
The Consortium of the project is consisted of 6 partner organizations: Asociación Valencia InnoHub (Spain), Stowarzyszenie SEDA (Poland), Xenios Polis. Culture, Science and Action (Greece), ATERMON B.V (Netherlands), University of Thessaly (Greece), M.M.C Management Center Limited (Cyprus)
WAKE UP is being addressed to a very recent phenomenon that is starting to become more and more popular, the Metaverse, which constitutes a new virtual space that overcomes the limitation of screens by combining real and virtual environments, according to the experts. More specifically, the project aims at preparing youth for the metaverse’s risks and as well as teaching them how to exploit all the opportunities to ensure youth’s up-skilling in different fields (ej, it can be a great occasion to promote active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and youth entrepreneurship including social entrepreneurship) while also guarantee them a better future.
The organisations involved in WAKE UP, had the opportunity to meet each other in July 2023, in Athens – Greece, in a meeting which was hosted by the partner organisation XENIOS POLIS.
This meeting provided the opportunity for the consortium to introduce their discuss in person all the tasks that have been already carried out by the consortium, while it was agreed the workplan and the timeline for the upcoming activities in the context of the work packages (WP2-WP3-WP4), that should be implemented throughout the project.
More specifically, XENIOS POLIS, in the framework of the WP2- Developing a framework to rise awareness on the metaverse, in cooperation with the UTH, presented the activities that have been completed such as the desk research as well as the curriculum and the best practices workplan during the upcoming months. In the meawhile, the leader of the WP3- Creating the virtual platform for wake up, ATERMON, confirmed that soon, the digital platform will be available in the target groups with innovative material included. Meanwhile, the Dissemination-Sustainability and the Evaluation procedures to be followed ensuring the success of the Project were also presented, so that partners are aware of their responsibilities.
